BRIEF: Computer users in Azerbaijan increasesJul 05, 2011 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- As of early 2011, the number of computers in the country was 419,800 units, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported. The growth of the computer park made 72,500 units (17.2 percent) in 2010. The share of computers among home users increased from 18.2 percent to 21.7 percent over the past year, while the number of computers accounted for every 100 people increased from 3.9 units to 4.6 units. PC users make up 38 percent of the population, of whom 39.7 percent are home users, 22.4 percent use computers at work and 22.3 percent -- schools. The committee also notes an increase in the number of broadband connections, which grew by 32.2 percent. Some 36 percent of the Azerbaijani population use Internet.
