BRIEF: Turkmen, Turkish presidents discuss cooperation


Jun 30, 2011 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Turkish President Abdullah Gul held a telephone conversation yesterday, the Turkmen State News Agency TDH reported.

During the conversation, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of the Turkmen-Turkish partnership, which is developsing in all directions.


Partnership in trade and economics is actively developing, as evidenced by sustained growth in the trade turnover between the two countries. In this context, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of activity of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, as well as regular meetings, during which the sides work out common approaches to creating a platform for further effective cooperation.

Stressing the importance of humanitarian cooperation as an important component of international dialogue, the two presidents stressed the role of joint cultural events.

In this regard, Berdimuhammadov thanked his Turkish counterpart for the assistance and support in organizing Turkmen Culture Days in Turkey, held this month.
