Ruston Native Serves Second Internship in Alexander's Washington OfficeJun 30, 2011 (Congressional Documents and Publications/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kristin Hodges, a 2004 graduate of Ruston High School and 2008 alumnus of Louisiana Tech University, commenced her second internship in U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander's Washington office. Hodges, the daughter of David and LaVerne Hodges, is a current graduate student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and expects to receive her master's degree in journalism this fall. She hopes to use this internship in Alexander's office to secure her career goals of intersecting public service and communications. An internship on Capitol Hill provides a unique opportunity for her to do just that. While serving in this capacity, Hodges duties include a range of legislative and communicative tasks, such as drafting constituent and briefing documents, performing governmental research and attending congressional committee hearings. When asked about her internship, Hodges said she is eager to build upon her prior experience working in the U.S. House of Representatives. Hodges stated, "I am really enjoying continuing to learn more about how the federal government works. I also like interacting with the people of the 5th District and helping them in any way I can." Alexander said he is lucky to have Hodges back on his team for the summer. "I was delighted to learn of Kristin's interest in serving as an intern," Alexander said. "With her enthusiasm, intelligence and commitment to reaching her goals, I have no doubt she will go far. We are very fortunate to have her as a part of the staff this summer." U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, represents Louisiana's 5th Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
