CHR lays off 10 local workers, 40 companywide [The Daily Republic, Mitchell, S.D.](Daily Republic (Mitchell, SD) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 30--CHR Solutions is laying off 40 employees companywide, including 10 in Mitchell. The company, which provides information technology, consulting, financial and strategic planning support and services to communications service providers, had 154 employees at its Mitchell location and another 77 at an office in Sioux Falls. The Mitchell and Sioux Falls offices specialize in software development, support and billing. Kutcher said CHR is still in good condition and in no danger of closing. It serves 37 customers in South Dakota alone and generates $2.8 million in revenue from business in the state while paying its South Dakota employees a total of $11 million in payroll. "As of today, we still have an overall employee headcount higher than 2010, and an increase in year-on-year revenue growth," Kutcher said in a statement e-mailed to The Daily Republic. CHR has additional offices in Molalla, Ore., Springfield, Ill., Camden, Ark., and Austin, Dallas, Houston and Lubbock, Texas. It also employs people who work at their homes, Kutcher said. The company had about 585 employees at the nine locations before the layoffs. Kutcher said the employees who lost their jobs were given severance. "They all received standard severance packages," he said, which includes pay and other benefits. The layoffs are "across the company," Kutcher said, and most of the offices were impacted. He said there are no plans to close the South Dakota offices and the Mitchell office will continue to play a key role in CHR. Mitchell and Sioux Falls offices are the "primary support centers" for CHR, according to the corporate spokesman. "Our commitment remains 100 percent to that office and we are committed to that office and the services that come out of that office," Kutcher said of Mitchell. He said the layoffs were caused by a change in how the firm does business. "Our client needs are changing and the types of service we provide is evolving," Kutcher said. "While any position elimination is regrettable, CHR has still achieved positive growth and is continuing to focus on the sales, development and delivery of the products and services required by our clients for a changing market." CHR's layoffs come at a time when a similar firm, Innovative Systems, which is based in Mitchell, is adding jobs. Last week, Innovative Systems announced it is adding 30 employees and expanding its Mitchell facility by 30,000 square feet. Roger Musick is the CEO of Innovative Systems. He was a partner in Martin Group for nearly 30 years. CHR Solutions, which is based in Houston, merged with Martin Group in September 2009. At the time, Martin Group had an office in Rapid City, but that closed in 2010, Kutcher said. ___ To see more of The Daily Republic, or to subscribe to the newspaper, go to http://www.mitchellrepublic.com.
