[June 22, 2011] L-3 Attains U.K. Integrated Broadcast Service Program Milestone for On-Budget Performance Tweet Jun 22, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- L-3 Communications announced that it has achieved a significant performance milestone in support of a high-priority United Kingdom intelligence project. The Company reported that its Stratis business, which is part of L-3's Services Group, in its role as the prime contractor for the Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) program, has been recognized for achieving the project's in-service date within budget and ahead of schedule. "L-3 is a market leader in providing mission-critical intelligence solutions that enable situational awareness and provide actionable intelligence, and we are proud to have achieved this milestone," said Les Rose, president of Stratis. According to a release, the program utilizes satellite and computer technology to develop a secure communications infrastructure and data dissemination system. The L-3 Stratis team has successfully provided the capability to deliver highly specific types of data across multiple networks and the system was accepted into service two months ahead of schedule. This system supports military operations on a global scale. Announced in February 2008, the Integrated Broadcast Service provides intelligence capability to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and its operational forces and select allied nations, including Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the U.S. As prime contractor, L-3 said that it oversees program management, system design, platform integration and systems engineering for requirements development, test and evaluation, and full life-cycle sustainment. The program's team also includes Babcock Intec and L-3's ASA business. L-3 Stratis delivers specialized services in support of government and commercial entities, providing technology and project management solutions for intelligence and enterprise information technology operations and for all missions across the cyber domain. L-3 Communications is a prime contractor in C3ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems, aircraft modernization and maintenance, and government services.
