Bebe Cool Excites RwandaJun 21, 2011 (The Monitor/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- One of Rwanda's biggest Calender event took place over the weekend. The 7th annual Kwita Izina (baby gorilla naming) ceremony, in which 22 baby gorillas, including a set of twins were given names, was held in Musaze district, in Kiningi sectuer. Attended by members of the local community, foreign dignitaries, Ambassadors, regional and international media, conservationists from around the world and entertainers including Uganda's Bebe Cool. "I wish Uganda could do something like this," Bebe cool said immediately after stepping on stage. Getting swiftly back to business, he hollered, "Selecta, run it." He opened with the East African Bashment Crew's Anthem, rousing a crowd of thousands in attendance who had initially appeared disinterested and non-excitable by all the previous contemporary entertainers, most of whom are well known on Rwanda's pop music circuit. Bebe got off the stage, into a section of a crowd made up of local community members, picked up one young boy into his arms and onto stage. An aging robot would have been more responsive. In effort to coerce a bit of entertaining collaboration between himself and this little boy, Bebe stripped himself off his sunglasses and belt and fashioned the boy. He promised to give Shs240,000 to this little boy but the boy seemed unbothered.Whether he fulfilled his promise or not after the performance remain unconfirmed. He late perfomed Bogolako and Kasepiki and eventually announced why Uganda is the best country in the world. "You can drink and drive, so long as you have Shs5,000 in your pockets to bribe the police," he said. |
