Mitsubishi Electric Automation Launches New Bypass Controller

VERNON HILLS, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

Mitsubishi Electric (News - Alert) Automation, Inc. introduces the C1-D, a new bypass controller for commercial pump and fan control applications.

At the heart of this new controller is Mitsubishi Electric's highly successful D700 variable frequency drive (VFD), which has an outstanding reputation for durability and efficiency in the toughest working conditions.

The C1-D is available in 1-10 HP (480V) and 1-5 HP (230V) ranges, and can be operated directly from the control panel or from remote digital and analog signals. Both bypass and non-bypass versions are available. With bypass types, a fail-safe, interlocked control system allows the user to change quickly and safely between VFD and direct-on-line bypass modes.

The C1-D controller is compact, low-cost, easy-to-operate, and has sophisticated specifications and features, including:

  • A 100 kA panel short-circuit rating so it is safe to connect to large power supplies
  • An integral fused disconnect switch sized for starting fans or other high inertia loads
  • A bi-directional coasting motor restart that allows the drive to smoothly 'catch' and control windmilling motors without damage
  • A built-in speed control potentiometer on the panel door
  • An energy optimization system that cuts power use by up to 12 percent and makes the motor run quieter, cooler and more efficiently
  • Three programmable skip-frequencies to avoid noisy resonant motor speed frequencies
  • Programmable output relays for job status indications
  • Fully programmable Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) capability to control feedback
  • Special firmware for motor cables up to 1600 feet long
  • A regeneration-avoidance feature to prevent nuisance tripping when decelerating high-inertia loads, such as fans

Mitsubishi Electric Automation's new C1-D controller is covered by a standard, two-year limited warranty, while the VFD comes with a five-year limited warranty.
