IAI INTRODUCES ADVANCED VERSIONS OF ITS MOSP AND MINIPOP STABILIZED EO PAYLOADS WITH INTEGRATED IMU


(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 20 June 2011 Release date- 19062011 - Israel Aerospace Industries' Tamam Division (IAI/Tamam), presents new versions of its Multi-Mission Optronic Stabilized Payload (MOSP3000) and Miniature Plug-in Optronic Payload (MiniPOP).

The new payloads are equipped with integrated Inertial Navigation Systems/Global Positioning Systems (INS/GPS) enabling geo-referencing and geo-pointing capabilities during identification, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions.

The integration of Tamam's INS/GPS systems on the payload gimbals significantly increases the EO payloads' pointing accuracy, reduces target location error, and enables advanced GEO referenced functions and potential persistent awareness capabilities.' Different accuracy levels are proposed - based on IAI/Tamam's extensive line of solid-state inertial navigation technologies - micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS), fiber-optic gyro (FOG) or ring-laser gyro (RLG). Fully utilizing this IMU-inside technology, the new payloads deliver excellent 'Geo-referenced' features: .Geo-pointing- aiming the payload's line of sight to a fixed point on the ground .Target geo-locating- retrieving target lat/long coordinates .Virtual range calculation .Geo-steering - smoothing of line of sight motion .Commonality with other geo-referenced system elements (radar, etc.) .North-finding capability .Geo-referenced scanning - for areal coverage .Support for mosaic map generation MOSP3000 is a multi-sensor electro-optic and infrared (EO/IR) payload. The system is available in 14-inch and 15-inch diameter configurations, with identical internal design. The 14' unit is designed primarily for UAV and aerostat platforms, while the 15' unit is designed primarily for helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, naval vessels and ground applications that require enhanced ruggedized structures.


MOSP3000's open architecture design, accommodates up to five sensors including: a continuous day color zoom camera, a variety of thermal imaging cameras (640x480 detector format), a laser pointer, and an eye-safe laser rangefinder or a laser designatorand& range finder (LDRF).

MiniPOP is a part of the ever-expanding MiniPOP family of advanced, lightweight, single Line-Replaceable-Unit, observation and targeting payloads. Hundreds of payloads are deployed in the field worldwide with leading military and security forces.

MiniPOP is uniquely small (8') and light (6 - 7.5 kg) and can be equipped with up to five sensors, providing the best performance in its class. These include a cooled InSb 3-5 -microm FPA with continuous zoom, day color camera: CCD with near IR (NIR) capability, with continuous zoom, Laser RangeFinder, Laser Pointer and a unique state-of -the-art Laser Designator (optional).
