While organised crime continues its assault on computer networks around the world, a recent trend in hacking is that of "hacktivists". This group is motivated by causes rather than by money. One recent example of their work involved the targeting of Mastercard networks after that company indicated it would not do business with the transparency organisation Wikileaks. Hacktivists in Turkey attacked a number of web sites in that country after authorities announced plans to increase surveillance of web site traffic in that country.
