BRIEF: New video board for Williams-Brice Stadium gets thumbs-upJun 17, 2011 (The State - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- If the project wins final approval later this year, the large state-of-the-art video board will go above the north end zone and be ready for the 2013 season. The 36-foot by 124-foot board will be the third largest in the SEC. Private donations will pay for the board and the sophisticated control room needed to operate it. USC said it already has received $5.25 million in pledges, which covers most of the board's costs. Board member Eddie Floyd questioned whether the school should instead spend the money on a new indoor practice facility, which could help land recruits. But other board members said a new board has been a priority of fans for years. Other SEC schools have added large modern video boards in recent years. "There's no need to talk either-or," he said.
