Noted Strategist, Dr. Trish Gorman Joins Leadership Team at the Jack Welch Management Institute

President Bob Daugherty and Executive Director/ Provost Dr. Steve Kerr announced the appointment of Dr. Trish Gorman as Dean of the Jack Welch Management Institute, and VP of Strategic Planning for Chancellor University. Previously she served as Dean of Faculty for the Institute. Her strong academic and business background will expand JWMI's capacity to provide cutting-edge learning programs in management, especially in the areas of leadership and strategy. President Bob Daugherty noted, "Dr. Gorman's experience and background make her an asset to our team. Her leadership will have a great impact on building the school." Dr. Gorman brings a wealth of expertise to this important role. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Gorman taught at the Wharton Graduate School of Business, Columbia University's Business School and School of International and Public Affairs, and designed and delivered popular strategy learning programs at London Business School, Duke Executive Education, INSEAD and other universities and corporations.

Dr. Gorman consulted for the LEK Partnership and for McKinsey & Company (News - Alert) where she also served as the Director of Global Strategy Learning. Dr. Gorman has published in the McKinsey Quarterly and the Harvard Business Review, recently co-authored What I Didn't Learn in Business School with Jay Barney (2010, Harvard Business Press) and is a contributing writer at Forbes.com. In addition to her expertise in higher education, Dr. Gorman has developed numerous strategy workshops and courses for executives and managers around the world.


Dr. Gorman holds a Ph.D. in Strategy and Economics from Case Western Reserve University, an M.B.A. focused on Strategy and Not for Profit Management from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, and a B.A. in the Honors Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics (MMSS) from Northwestern University.
