Nuance Communications acquires SVOX(Associated Press Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Speech-recognition software maker Nuance Communications Inc. said Thursday that it has acquired SVOX AG, a privately held provider of voice services for in-car systems and consumer electronics. Nuance said the acquisition will help it develop products that will enable people to interact with their connected cars, mobile phones and other consumer devices. It said there is increasing consumer demand to quickly access mobile Web content, find local businesses, get directions and listen to phone messages while driving. Financial terms were not disclosed.
