Update on June 9, 2011: Vivendi has received an approval from European Commission to acquire the remaining 44% stake in SFR from Vodafone Group. Announcement (April 3, 2011): Vivendi has signed an agreement to acquire the remaining 44% stake in SFR from Vodafone Group for EUR7,950 million. The completion of the transaction is expected to take place by the end of June 2011. Rumor (January 12, 2010): According to Cellular-news, the Le Figaro newspaper reported that Vodafone is likely to sell its 44% stake in SFR to Vivendi. The stake is estimated to be worth around EUR6,800 million and Vivendi will be prepared to offer EUR4,800 million to EUR6,000 million, after accounting for a 20% to 30% liquidity discount. Vivendi already owns a 56% stake in SFR. BNP Paribas and Lazard Group acted as financial advisors to Vodafone. N M Rothschild & Sons Limited, Citigroup, Inc. and HSBC are acting as financial advisors, while Bird & Bird and Allen & Overy LLP are acting as legal advisors to Vivendi.
