[June 16, 2011] DVD: What's available Tweet Jun 13, 2011 (The Sacramento Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Tuesday's release of "Battle: Los Angeles" on home video will make you thankful for that big-screen TV and the Blu-ray player. Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez star in the science-fiction tale in which a Marine squadron wages a fight for Earth's survival against an invasion by buglike aliens intent on colonizing the planet (Rated PG-13; $28.95 for DVD, $34.95 Blu-ray and $38.96 for Blu-ray/DVD combo pack). For more sci-fi thrills, check out "Supernatural: The Complete Second Season" on Blu-ray for the first time. It's the last of the show's five seasons to make its way to Blu-ray -- don't know why it took so long -- but the four-disc set comes with 22 one-hour episodes, plus extras, including a cool interactive road map (not rated; $59.96). "Monogamy" is a meditation on marriage that stars Chris Messina and Rashida Jones as a couple with commitment issues. As Messina gets engrossed in a voyeuristic pastime, the film demonstrates what he stands to lose while lost in his own head and not present in his relationship (not rated, $29.99). Elvira, the "Mistress of the Dark," puts her brand on a new line of double-feature DVDs featuring some prime B-movies. Tuesday, you can choose from Elvira's Movie Macabre offerings "Night of the Living Dead"/ "I Eat Your Skin" or "The Satanic Rites of Dracula"/ "The Werewolf of Washington" (both unrated, $14.98 each).
