AMX Adds Lutron(R) Clear Connect(TM) Technology to Offer Wireless Commercial Light Control Solution

Orlando, FL, Jun 15, 2011 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- AMX(R), the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced the AMX Clear Connect Wireless Gateway system. Based on the industry leading Clear Connect Enabled technology from Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., the new solution will enable AMX control systems to seamlessly integrate with Lutron's Clear Connect(TM) dimmers, switches, occupancy sensors, plug-in devices and keypads. The solution provides an easy way for installers to add light control to AMX control systems without the significant time and cost of running wires and offers building managers the ability to control lighting and AV from a single interface to complete building-wide tasks like scheduling shutdowns, managing energy and more. AMX will be demonstrating the AMX Clear Connect solution and line of Clear Connect Enabled devices in booth 2525 at InfoComm 2011, being held June 15 - 17 in Orlando, Fla.

The cost of running control wire in buildings can be 50%-90% of the cost of the devices. The new AMX and Lutron wireless solution can eliminate that cost and time burn. For end users the solution provides a simplified path to integrate light control into their automated classrooms and conference rooms. And, with Resource Management Suite(R) Enterprise(TM) from AMX users can gain energy consumption monitoring of lights, AV devices, HVAC plus synchronize disparate building systems.

"Lutron's Clear Connect Enabled technology has set the bar for range and reliability in wireless lighting control so it was a natural fit for AMX to integrate it for a complete room control solution," said AMX Chief Technology Officer Robert Noble. "Installers now have a simple and cost-effective option to offer building owners a smart room automation solution that includes lighting control and occupancy sensing." The new solution is ideal for retrofit as it easily integrates with a building's existing electrical infrastructure. Now, if a tenant decides to add lighting control or occupancy sensing after a building's infrastructure is complete, the new AMX Clear Connect Gateway and Devices allow an installer to add these features in virtually any location.

"AMX's ability to add native NetLinx(R) control and management to Lutron's Clear Connect Enabled devices offers a significant value to the dealer channel," said Ed Blair, vice president of Lutron Commercial Sales. "Dealers will greatly benefit from this solution as they can install a complete control system - lights, AV, HVAC, energy management, and more - without pulling wires." The AMX Clear Connect Gateway wirelessly communicates with Lutron Clear Connect Enabled dimmers, switches, occupancy sensors, plug-in devices and keypads. Lutron's patented RF Technology uses a quiet band, essentially free of interference; ensuring communication between system devices is reliably delivered. Clear Connect was also designed for easy and reliable integration.

Combined with RMS Enterprise from AMX, the new solution provides simplicity, sustainability and reduced operating expenses through monitoring, automation, scheduling, and management.

According to Doug Hall, AMX product manager: "The new AMX Clear Connect Gateway for Lutron Clear Connect wireless devices includes a web interface for simplified system configuration. Through a web browser, you can add devices, create scenes, and program the system with no installed software tools. This allows the building manager or lighting designer to configure a functional, standalone system prior to the installation of the AMX control system. Adding automation or remote management at that point is a great value add for the system integrator." The AMX Clear Connect solution will be available in the U.S. and Canada in the fourth quarter of this year.
