Inflow Communications Lodges a ShoreTel Business Phone System at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort Solving Communications Problems

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) June 14, 2011 Inflow Communications lodges a ShoreTel Unified Communication, business phone system to help Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort solve its communication problems. There were many setbacks that had to be solved including updating the outdated Toshiba phone system, improving cost savings and implementing a better routing system.

Guests were being misdirected to the wrong department or transferred to a black hole and lost all together. They were getting frustrated because there was no way to ensure calls were being delivered to the right employee or department and that's bad for business.

The main phone system also needed to be linked from their Portland, Oregon, sales office to the resort on Mt. Hood. Before the transition, if a guest needed to contact the mountain and dialed the sales number, they would have to hang up and dial another number. Mt. Hood Meadows really needed a system that allowed staff to transfer calls between the sales office and mountain. And as an added challenge, the phone system needed to be set up so that the employees could easily access others using their mobile devices.

Lastly, they needed a to solve a big technology challenge. Due to Mt. Hood Meadow’s location, 20th-century phone services like PRI, direct number dialing and caller ID were not available and the voice mail system had many shortcomings.

Inflow Communications began working with Mt. Hood Meadows three years ago to remedy their communications headaches. To start out, the antiquated Toshiba system in the sales office (which was complicated to administer and not at all versatile) was replaced with a ShoreTel business phone system and connected to the existing with a PRI connection on the mountain. This provided a station-to-station dialing system between the Toshiba and ShoreTel systems and locations using an Internet VPN connection.

By deploying the ShoreTel Unified Communication system, Inflow was able to replace the old Toshiba telephones with the new ShoreTel VoIP phones, upgrade the failing voice mail system and provide Unified Comm tools to remaining Toshiba users. Essentially, the ShoreTel voice mail system was available to all users and gave legacy Toshiba users features like find-me, follow-me and voice mail-to-email.

Fast forward to Spring 2011, the Mt. Hood Meadows IT staff finishes replacing the Toshiba system with the ShoreTel VoIP phone system on the mountain. All remaining users receive ShoreTel telephones and ShoreTel’s desktop VoIP productivity tool, Call Communicator, adding services like unified messaging, presence management and call control.

A standard Internet T1 connection was installed through the Local Exchange Carrie (LEC) and Inflow Communications deployed Broadvox SIP trunks across it. This was the perfect communication solution for Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort because all users now had caller ID and direct inward dial. More importantly, due to the nature of SIP trunks, Mt. Hood Meadows can add more trunks as needed during a busy season and reduce their trunks during the spring and summer, creating a cost savings strategy. They also got unlimited long distance within the US and to Canada, which means a big cost savings since the majority of their calls are long distance.

The final result is a happy customer for Inflow Communications and happy guests for Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort.

Inflow Communications was created in Portland, Oregon, in 1997 by a group of software development and network engineers. As business communication technologies became more of a network application, Inflow developed an increasing passion for unified communications and cost saving VoIP business phone systems. Even though the technology is state-of-the-art, nearly all Inflow employees, from engineers to sales consultants, would consider themselves veterans in business phone systems, unified communications, and network infrastructure. In 2007, to reflect the a business strategy and passion, Inflow Communications decided to focus entirely on unified communication technologies specifically VoIP business phone systems.
