Mformation Delivers First Production 100-Million-Device Management Platform

EDISON, N.J. --(Business Wire)--

Mformation (News - Alert)® Technologies Inc., the leading independent provider of advanced mobile device management (MDM) solutions, today announced the results of recent performance benchmark testing that show the ability of the Mformation Service Manager™ platform to scale to meet the needs of the largest mobile operators and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) as they grow over the next several years.

Benchmark testing simulated a live customer deployment with more than 100 million active devices and users under management on a single instance of the Mformation platform. The scale of the benchmarking demonstrates the capability of the multi-tenant platform to support deployments at the largest tier-1 mobile operators, as well as service providers who need to support smaller tier-1 and tier-2 operators or many enterprise customers with a cloud-based mobile device management service offering.

The benchmarks set during this testing were designed to demonstrate support for all of the key interfaces in and out of a mobile device management solution serving the device levels of the largest organizations. A variety of different interactions with the devices caused varying loads on the system, including high numbers of device diagnostics, detection and configuration transactions, device attribute updates, software delivery and FOTA (firmware upgrades over-the-air) updates of large files (up to 100 MB), and customer care-originated device management transactions. Transaction rates and response times for these benchmarks met or exceeded all expectations, as follows:

  • Push notificatins at >3 million transactions per day
  • Customer care-originated changes at 500,000 per day and 12,000 simultaneous customer care agent interactions
  • Incoming phone number/device pair transactions at >3 million per day
  • Device attribute update transactions at 1.5 million per day
  • Software delivery/FOTA processing of large files (100 MB and more)

"Mformation Service Manager was designed from the ground up for carrier-grade and cloud-mandated scalability," said Rakesh Kushwaha, CTO and Founder, Mformation Technologies. "We separate the presentation, application and data layers, and allow each component to be scaled out separately and dynamically. Additionally, we provide software delivery offload to allow for very high bandwidth updates of very large data packets to end-point devices. This is particularly important for applications like large-scale over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates of Android (News - Alert) devices. This scalability enables cloud-based support for deployments involving a few enterprise customers with thousands of devices up to thousands of customers with millions of devices. The platform is currently live in customer production environments on 3G and 4G networks, supporting more than 500 million devices in aggregate."
