Recoup Reveals New Philanthropic Social Engine to Nonprofits and Retailers

WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)--

Today Recoup, a new philanthropic social engine that brings together cause-oriented businesses, consumers and nonprofits unveils its pre-beta demonstration site, www.recoup.com. Visitors can sign up, view prototype offers, explore the site's functionality and preview some of its featured nonprofit partners.

In its first few weeks in operation, Recoup has already attracted key nonprofits including Rock the Vote, Alaska Wilderness League, American Forests, and Education Pioneers. Recoup continues to add local and national merchants and nonprofits partners to its growing roster.

"Our goal is to engage our nonprofit partners in a way that addresses their unique needs. We are much more than a commercial co-venture: we provide value to their supporters, a platform for effective online fundraising and donor matching, and a way to transform non-donating supportersinto donors," said Tim Clinton, Recoup's Chief Relationship Officer and Legal Counsel.

Once the site is launched this summer, consumers will be able to purchase Recoup deals at substantial savings, and Recoup will automatically donate 10% of the sale price to a featured nonprofit that's been selected by the merchant or the buyer.

What makes Recoup unique is that it enables consumers to increase the size of the gift by donating a portion or the entire discount to the nonprofit and take a tax deduction. Recoup also allows major donors to match all donations made to their favorite nonprofits through its website. Everything happens in a single transaction.

Shoppers have the option to flip the deal to benefit a nonprofit of their choice, and share the new combination (deal + nonprofit) with their friends.

"Today's consumers are seeking out companies and services that are involved with a cause they care about," said Gianluca Pivato, Recoup's co-founder and CEO. "With Recoup, retailers form a bond with like-minded consumers, shoppers come away feeling good about their purchases, and personally-relevant worthy causes benefit from new sources of donations. We enable consumers to 'repurpose their purchases.'"

Recoup expects to launch the beta site and start offering deals to supporters this summer, enabling them to support their favorite causes without increasing their expenditures.

About Recoup

Recoup is a Washington DC-based philanthropic social engine that brings businesses, consumers and nonprofits together for social good through an innovative and patent-pending system. Participating merchants offer savings to consumers and Recoup donates the first 10% of the sale price to a designated nonprofit. Recoup then gives consumers the flexibility to donate their discount, share the offer with their friends, and receive a tax deduction.

Merchants, nonprofits, schools and places of worship interested in the Recoup cause-marketing network are encouraged to visit recoup.com.
