Gordon joined Syniverse in 2008 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer leading the company's global technology operations, product realization and research and development activities. Prior to joining Syniverse, Gordon held numerous senior-level positions in the technology industry with Convergys, Bell Atlantic and IBM (News - Alert), and has co-authored numerous patents relating to systems architecture and wireless communications.

"I am very pleaed that Jeff will assume the chief leadership role in guiding the future of Syniverse. Jeff's foresight and technology vision will continue to enable our customers to make mobile work around the world," said Holcombe, who joined Syniverse's Board of Directors in 2003 and was appointed President and CEO in 2006.

During Holcombe's tenure with Syniverse, he diversified the business through several key acquisitions and built an exceptional management team, which includes Gordon. Holcombe defined a strategic vision for the company that transformed Syniverse from a North American roaming and clearing house provider to a leading global provider of technology and business services to the mobile industry.

"Since our first interactions with Syniverse, we have been impressed with Tony Holcombe's (News - Alert) leadership and his unwavering commitment to customers and the industry. We have been equally impressed with Jeff Gordon's track record of success, business acumen and technology expertise. He is ideally suited to become CEO, and we enthusiastically support his appointment," said James A. Attwood, Jr., Chairman of the Syniverse Board of Directors and Managing Director at The Carlyle Group, which acquired Syniverse in January 2011. "We look forward to working with both Jeff and Tony in their new roles."

Under Gordon's leadership, Syniverse is poised to play an even larger role in shaping the future of mobile worldwide.

"With unquenchable consumer and business demand, mobile is an incredibly dynamic industry, and Syniverse is in an enviable position at the center of the ecosystem," Gordon said. "I am both honored and thrilled to serve as Syniverse's President and CEO at this transformative time for the mobile experience. With issues to be addressed such as the transition to LTE (News - Alert) and 4G, the need for real-time operator solutions, the demand for network capacity to address exploding mobile data usage, and the changing mobile experience with sophisticated new applications such as two-way video, Syniverse is ideally suited to help customers address these pressing needs and much more."
