Southern Health Hospital in Australia Taps Ekahau RTLS for Staff SafetyJun 10, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Ekahau Inc announced that Southern Health's Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department in Australia has selected Ekahau's RTLS wireless staff safety solution as deployed by Ekahau's local business partner, Integrated Wireless. Southern Health is a public health service in Victoria, Australia. The Dandenong Hospital reported that it needed a communications system for their Emergency Department that would work with their existing Motorola Wi-Fi network and NEC IP-PBX, and allow staff to be located in real time, plus be able to transmit two-way text messages, sound a duress alarm to summon security, and make voice calls - all with one system. According to a release, Integrated Wireless, a specialist in wireless emergency communications systems for healthcare, designed the hardware/software solution incorporating Ekahau's RTLS Controller (ERC) software for managing location. "Ekahau's patented location software gives us excellent location accuracy and can be installed on any hardware device with a Wi-Fi antenna, turning those devices into de facto tags," said Feargal O'Farrell, Sales and Marketing Director at Integrated Wireless. "The most difficult part of the Southern Health deployment was delivering such a major system in such a short timeframe, however Ekahau RTLS enabled us to rapidly deliver the fully integrated solution."
