Business notes - Foreclosure rate hits high in Southeastern North Carolina [Star-News, Wilmington, N.C.]


(Star-News (Wilmington, NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 06--Foreclosure rate hits a high WILMINGTON -- The area's foreclosure rate hit its highest level since January 2009, the real estate research firm CoreLogic said Monday.

In March, the foreclosure rate rose to 2.43 percent from 2.38 percent in February and 1.58 percent in March 2010, the firm reported.

Foreclosures were higher in the three-county metro area than the 2.21 percent for North Carolina as a whole, but were far below the U.S. figures at 3.57 percent.

The foreclosure rate for January 2009 was 0.51 percent.

The lowest foreclosure rates in the area were in central Brunswick County, while the highest were in central and western Pender County, western New Hanover and northern Brunswick, according to CoreLogic.

The number of mortgages that were at least 90 days delinquent was 5.47 percent in March, down from 5.52 percent in February, which was the peak from the last 2 1/2 years. In March 2010 the rate was 5.31 percent.

The seriously delinquent rate has been above 5 percent since December 2009.

Hospital supply firm names president WILMINGTON -- Matthew K. Wright has been named president of Wilmington Hospital Supply, parent of Tarheel Physicians Supply.

Wright, a graduate of UNCW's Cameron School of Business, formerly was vice president.

Tarheel Physicians Supply is a family owned, independent medical distribution business. The company has been based in Wilmington for more than 53 years.

Hagood Homes names Hine WILMINGTON -- Hagood Homes has named Kevin Hine as vice president in charge of sales.

Hine, a CPA, worked to create the River Landing community Wallace.


He has more than 20 years of residential real estate development experience involving over 2,400 real estate transactions, according to Hagood, founded in 1996.
