Development of Azerbaijan's mobile communication market will depend on data services and mobile paymentsJun 03, 2011 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- JUNE 3 / , Azerbaijan, Baku -- In addition to voice services, new data services and mobile payments will be a promising direction in the development of the mobile communications market in Azerbaijan, Azercell Telekom Spokesman Fakhri Abbasov said. Abbasov said these services will be gradually included in the future daily lives of users. "Today, mobile payments in many countries are widely used in the transport sector, shopping sites to pay for goods and services, and other industries. The telephone, an integral part of daily life, now serves as a tool for making payments and additional services," Abbasov said. Azercell works to cover the capital's retail facilities using mobile payments. This service introduces a system of contactless payment for goods by mobile phone, which is implemented jointly with Mobisky. A new method of payment available to Azercell subscribers will make transferring funds for goods or services possible from a mobile subscriber's account. The project involves the installation of reads at Baku's shopping sites. Abbasov said the success of this payment method, where RFID technology is applied, focuses primarily on the convenience of both customers and sellers and will depend directly on the interest of the shopping centers. The issue of RFID (Radio-frequency identification), Abbasov said, was mulled during the recent "Modern Information Technology Business Automation and Production" event organized in Baku by the Society GS1 Azerbaijan and the Russian company Cleverencesoft. The event demonstrated solutions for commercial registration in trade, storage, production using data collection terminals, as well as solutions for the accounting of fixed assets of the enterprise based on bar codes and RFID-technology.
