BRIEF: Mother allegedly threatens daughter with rifleJun 03, 2011 (Newton Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A mother who allegedly threatened her 14-year-old daughter with a .22 caliber rifle in their home at the Monroe Mobile Home Park Thursday was arrested after the victim barricaded herself in a bathroom and called 911. Terry Lynn Beal, 51, of Monroe was charged with aggravated assault (an aggravated misdemeanor) after a 3 p.m. argument with her daughter nearly became deadly. Jasper County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 314 Lincoln St. Unit 3 while Beal held her daughter at rifle point. According to sheriff's office reports, witnesses in the home corroborated the victim's claims after authorities were able to safely take Beal into custody. The weapon was found under a sofa in the home. Jasper County Chief Sheriff's Deputy John Halferty said through office staff that more information about the incident would be available at a later time. Beal was taken to the Jasper County Jail, but is out on a $2,000 bond this morning.
