[May 31, 2011] Avnet Electronics Marketing Highlights Demonstrations from LIGHTFAIR 2011 Tweet Jun 01, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Avnet announced that its team of lighting specialists demonstrated solutions using high-brightness light emitting diodes (HBLEDs) and Solid State Lighting at LIGHTFAIR 2011, in Philadelphia, Pa. In a release, the company noted event details: Avnet displayed a brilliant cove lighting system, using high-powered LEDs. These versatile lighting fixtures can be strung together for use in architecturally domed applications, such as rotundas or planetariums. Avnet also displayed the simplicity of creating a dimmable downlight using LEDs mounted on a starboard. The downlight demonstration showed the transformation between dimmable, warm and cool white with the use of a ballast. Another Avnet demonstration from this year's LIGHTFAIR, was a high-voltage DC LED pendant light. Using a high-voltage DC LED and LED driver, this demonstration showed that a light can be built with very few products, and can produce fewer ripples and less eyestrain than more complex products.
