National Technical Systems Opens New Testing Laboratory in Silicon Valley

May 19, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- National Technical Systems (NTS), a provider of engineering services, announced that it has expanded its Silicon Valley Operations through the recent addition of a new 30,000-square-foot Environmental and Dynamics testing laboratory located in the city of Newark, California.

This new facility, located in close proximity to the company's existing 26,000-square-foot Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Wireless testing laboratory in Fremont, offers a broad array of services to meet the full range of testing and certification needs of the region's many hi-tech product manufacturers, with specialized services for the Telecom and Consumer Products industries.

The opening of this new facility ties in with NTS Silicon Valley's shift of all Sunnyvale operations to its existing laboratories in Fremont and Newark last year.

"In addition to having the most up-to-date and the largest EMC capability in the Bay Area, NTS Silicon Valley now has the largest, most extensively capable and professional Environmental Test Facility in this region," said CEO William McGinnis. "Our latest accomplishments will not only enable us to offer complementary services to our existing customers but also serve as a significant step in expanding our service offerings in the local market. We plan to conduct a series of Open Houses and other customer appreciation events in the upcoming months in order for customers to see the expansion effort and discuss ways to initiate a successful testing program here at NTS Silicon Valley." NTS Silicon Valley was recently approved as a Verizon recognized Independent Test Laboratory (ITL) under Verizon's NEBS Testing Certification Program and is certified to conduct NEBS testing to various sections of the GR-63 CORE standard on telecommunications equipment to be sold for use in Verizon's high-I.Q. network.

The scope of testing currently includes Sections 4.1 - Temperature, Humidity and Altitude Criteria; 4.3 - Equipment Handling Criteria; 4.4.1- Earthquake Environment (Seismic) and Criteria; 4.4.4 - Office Vibration Equipment and Criteria; 4.4.5 - Transportation Vibration Criteria; 4.6 - Acoustic Noise; and 4.7 - Illumination with the remaining GR-63 scope of tests to be added later this year.

NTS Silicon Valley also received accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), ensuring the compliance of internal quality systems, technical staff and calibration to the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is a requirement for the performance of testing to various GR-63 CORE, Telecommunications, Military and Industrial standards.
