Avnet Electronics Marketing Exec to Present at Supply Chain World North America

May 19, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- As global supply chains become increasingly complex, companies are beginning to realize that they must adopt a new reality in order to maintain growth levels, profitability and strategic effectiveness, according to Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc.

In a release on May 16, the company said Lalit Wadhwa, senior vice president, global supply chain operations, will present at the upcoming Supply Chain World North America on ways to employ best practices, benchmarking tactics, and business process reengineering to create an organization that can uphold an effective global supply chain.

Wadhwa's talk, "Building a Global Supply Chain Organization," outlines the success story of Avnet Velocity, Avnet Electronics Marketing's supply-chain solutions group. By implementing SCORmark benchmarking techniques, Wadhwa and his team were able to identify areas of possible improvement, pinpoint the root cause of underperforming areas and implement action plans to address improvement.

"Through the SCORmark tools, Avnet was able to create a highly functional roadmap to not only define and shape our supply chain organization, but to also create accountability within the organization," said Wadhwa. "As one of the world's largest distributors of electronics components and embedded systems in the world, our reputation as a supply-chain expert goes hand in hand with the value proposition that Avnet brings to our customers around the globe." Supply Chain World North America takes place May 24-26 in Baltimore, Md.

Avnet Electronics Marketing serves electronic original equipment manufacturers (EOEMs) and electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers in more than 70 countries, distributing electronic components from manufacturers and providing associated design-chain and supply-chain services.

Avnet, a Fortune 500 company, is a distributor of electronic components, computer products and embedded technology serving customers in more than 70 countries worldwide. For the fiscal year ended July 3, 2010, Avnet generated revenue of $19.16 billion.
