Gartner Names Cloud9 IDE as Cool Vendor 2011 in Open Source SoftwareMay 05, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Cloud9 IDE, a cloud-based integrated development environment for JavaScript incorporating HTML5, and supporting Python, Ruby and PHP, announced it has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the Cool Vendors in Open Source Software, report by Brian Prentice and Thomas Murphy of Gartner. Gartner defines cool vendors as companies that offer technologies or solutions that are innovative, impactful, and intriguing. Cloud9 IDE is designed to become the gateway to the cloud for web developers. There is no environment or database to set up, and nothing to install. Cloud9 IDE gives developers full control over their environment, including enterprise options for private clouds and inside-firewall installations. An extended app store for will open later this year. With 75 percent of websites using JavaScript and the explosion of mobile apps, Cloud9 IDE is the first commercial development as a service (DaaS) for JavaScript, supporting HTML5, Python, Ruby, and PHP.
