Intelsat New Dawn satellite launched to expand Africa's communications infrastructure

Fixed satellite services provider Intelsat SA reported on Friday that the Intelsat New Dawn satellite has been successfully launched by Arianespace.
The new satellite is intended to supply critical communications infrastructure for customers in Africa, offering new capacity for voice, wireless backhaul, fixed line and wireless infrastructure, broadband and media.
Owned by a joint venture between a consortium led by Convergence Partners and Intelsat, Intelsat New Dawn will operate from a geostationary orbital slot at 32.8 degrees East.
