Force10 Networks Awarded Internet Telephony Magazine's 2010 Product of the Year

Apr 18, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Force10 Networks, Inc. announced that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named two of its S-Series top-of-rack (ToR) access switches as recipients of the 2010 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award.

The magazine's selection of its S4810 and S60 switches for its 13th Product of the Year Awards reflects the editors' belief that Force10 has demonstrated the vision, leadership and thoroughness required for consideration.

"I am pleased to announce that Force10 Networks has garnered two Product of the Year Awards in 2010. The editors of Internet Telephony have verified that both the S4810 and S60 display quality and innovation in addition to addressing real needs in the marketplace," said TMC CEO Rich Tehrani. "I would like to congratulate Force10 for its commitment to advancing IP communication technologies." S-Series Solutions Bring Core-Like Performance, Low Latency to the Network Edge Designed for applications in data center and computing environments that require the highest bandwidth and lowest latency, the S4810 10/40 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ToR switch leverages a non-blocking, cut-through switching architecture to deliver line-rate Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding capacity with ultra-low latency to maximize network performance. The compact S4810 design provides 48 dual-speed 1/10 GbE ports and four 40 GbE uplinks to conserve valuable rack space.

The 1/10 GbE S60 access switch answers the key challenges related to network congestion in data center ToR and service provider aggregation deployments. The S60 is equipped with the industry's largest packet buffer (1.25 GB) and the ability to "tune" buffering for specific application needs, enabling it to deliver lower application latency and maintain predictable network performance even when network traffic spikes significantly. The S60 shares density characteristics with the S4810 as it provides 48 line-rate GbE ports and up to four optional 10 GbE uplinks also in just 1-RU.

"We're proud to receive this honor from Internet Telephony for our S-Series ToR access switches," says Arpit Joshipura, chief marketing officer, Force10 Networks. "Having two products win this award validates our vision that offering high performance, ultra-low-latency with compact form factors are essential elements to delivering 40 GbE core-to-edge network services to data center and service provider environments." Force10 Networks is a global technology Company.
