[April 12, 2011] Precise Partners with MMK Tweet Apr 12, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Precise, a global provider of transaction performance management solutions and services, announced that Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), is using Precise software to recast the performance efficiency of its business-critical IT infrastructure. MMK is Russia's largest iron and steel provider with a current crude steel production capacity of 14 million tons per year, a domestic market share of 16 percent, and a predicted growth of 60 percent by 2014. As such, MMK noted the demands on its IT infrastructure. Precise enables performance transparency, providing rapid operational reporting to MMK's team of performance management specialists, a part of its 600-strong IT department. Informservice, a dedicated IT subsidiary of MMK, called in additional expertise from Russian IT consultancy, SoftBCom, to aid with the Precise implementation. As Oracle E-Business Suite is a multi-tier and multi-module product, the joint team from SoftBCom and Informservice found the ability of Precise to present a new view of its operation extremely useful. MMK now uses Precise for transaction performance management across its Oracle E-Business Suite, using performance monitoring modules such as Precise for Oracle Database, Precise for J2EE and Precise for Oracle Forms. The team can now constantly monitor the largest Oracle tasks and queries, while proactively tuning and optimizing them. The response time for fixing dynamically changing problems has been reduced with Precise. "There are three main business benefits we can see now," said Vadim Feoktistov, director of MMK Informservice. "First, we are experiencing improved business application performance and assured transparency, resulting in effective business management and less risk. Second, we are saving money by eliminating unnecessary hardware upgrades and from effective use of the platforms we have. Third, we can now do more with limited staff resources."
