Pure Storage to Present "Leveraging Flash Memory in Enterprise Storage" Tutorial at Spring 2011 Storage Networking World

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Apr 04, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Pure Storage today announced that VP of Products Matt Kixmoeller will be a featured speaker at next week's Storage Networking World (SNW) conference in Santa Clara, Calif. The presentation, Leveraging Flash Memory in Enterprise Storage, a Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) tutorial, takes place on Tuesday, April 5th at 3:05 PM PDT.

IT managers face a myriad of different architectural choices in how to implement flash in their environments, ranging from host-based PCI cards to flash caches to flash/disk tiering approaches. The tutorial will compare the performance, reliability, endurance and cost properties of different flash memory approaches, illustrating the impact flash memory can have on typical enterprise I/O workloads such as database and virtual machine environments, and providing attendees with a roadmap for how solid state might positively influence their storage architectures in the future. The tutorial will arm attendees with the right questions to pose internally and to ask their vendors when choosing a flash approach for their specific environment.

"Flash memory promises to be a powerful tool in the enterprise to combat both dramatic data growth and increased randomization of I/O in today's datacenters," said Matt Kixmoeller, VP of Products for Pure Storage. "It is important, however, to understand the similarities and differences between rotating magnetic disks and flash memory, as well as the impact flash can have on enterprise workloads in modern storage arrays." SNW Spring 2011 takes place from April 4-7. The company's products accelerate random I/O-intensive applications like server virtualization, desktop virtualization (VDI), database (OLTP, rich analytics/OLAP, SQL, NoSQL) and cloud computing. Pure Storage makes it cost effective to broadly deploy flash within the data center, enabling organizations to manage growth within existing power and space constraints.

Launching later this year, the company's products are in private beta with select customers. Pure Storage is funded by Greylock Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures. www.purestorage.com Connect with Pure Storage: Read the blog: http://www.purestorage.com/blog Follow on Twitter: www.twitter.com/PureStorage Visit on Facebook: www.facebook.com/PureStorage Media Contact Amber Winans Bhava Communications Email Contact 858-779-4796 SOURCE: Pure Storage http://www2.marketwire.com/mw/emailprcntct?id=43495794E4EBFB48
