Safeguarding Data is as Important as the Collection Process, Says Phruit

LONDON --(Business Wire)--

Data security is a major priority for telemarketing companies, but not all businesses are maximising opportunities to protect data, says leading telemarketing services provider Phruit. The ISO 9001 standard goes some way in promoting best practice and ensuring adequate processes are in place to keep data safe. However, Phruit believes it is of paramount importance and so has employed additional processes to ensure its data protection policy is as robust as possible.

With 30 years' experience, Chris Reid (News - Alert), Information Security and Compliance Consultant at Phruit, guarantees that they lead the way with their strict policy, not only by meeting the data protection industry standards, but by exceeding them.

"Data protection is a serious issue. At a recent Information Commissioners Office (ICO) covention many of the companies were unaware of all of the processes that should be employed. The ICO itself was impressed at our self-imposed standards. In addition, we have an Information Security and Compliance Auditor who provides the 'eyes on the ground' by reviewing every script, controlling data flow, conducting training and continuously monitoring our daily operations. Together we report back to the Managing Director so there is a clear line of command with the authority to halt any non-compliant operation until changes are made," says Chris.

"Phruit also uses technologies such as a security sub-system, outside of which no employees are allowed to operate. Anyone who wishes to work for Phruit, regardless of their position, is background checked. Each employee receives regular data protection and security training and is required to pass examinations in these areas before being allowed to work, even under supervision. Our clients, for whom we conduct surveys or campaigns, are also scrutinised carefully, to ensure data we provide is not simply falling into the wrong hands." he added.

Phruit already holds ISO 9001 and is working towards gaining ISO 27001.

Chris concluded, "ISO standards are important as proof that the right systems are in place. They are a recognised benchmark allowing us to demonstrate our competence in data protection. However, our own internal processes complement and enhance these standards - and we work hard to ensure they are not only safely in place, but constantly reviewed."
