Alektrona launches partner program to improve connectivity, innovation of smart grid energy management systems

Providence, RI, March 23, 2011 – Alektrona Corporation today launched its new partner program, designed to enhance and promote interoperability between energy management devices, software and its energy management platform.

One of the biggest challenges facing the smart grid is interoperability of its varied components. “Alektrona solutions solve complex connectivity issues inherent in multi-vendor, multi-device, multi-standards energy management systems. This allows the companies that make these devices and software to focus on their core competencies,” said company President Christopher Leidigh. “In turn, this fosters innovation and allows end customers to build best-of-breed smart grid solutions.” The program benefits partners in a number of ways, from marketing and sales support to technology and product roadmap updates. Yet, the primary purpose of the program is compatibility validation. Alektrona plans to test partner devices and software to ensure interoperability with its energy management platform – the common denominator in standards-based communications protocols like ZigBee Smart Energy and OpenADR.

Testing and validation gives consumers, integrators and solution providers confidence that Alektrona-compatible devices and software will be easy to set up, easy to maintain, reliable and secure. Compared to single-vendor solutions, this gives flexibility in choosing devices that best meet consumers’ needs and budget.
