Globecomm Launches Tri-Band Auto-Acquisition Terminal

Mar 17, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Globecomm Systems Inc., a provider of communications solutions and services, announced the launch of its next generation Auto-Explorer 1.2 Meter Multi-Band terminal.

According to a release, the VSAT antenna uses band-specific feed cartridges with integrated RF electronics to enable frequency conversion in the field from X to Ka to Ku satellite bands, and supports several OEM L-band modem products from CEFD, iDirect, HNS and Viasat. Available in single, dual or tri-band configurations, it supports voice, fax, data, video, Internet and LAN-to-LAN connections.

Michael Plourde, Vice President Government Programs for Globecomm, said: "The new 1.2 Meter Multi-Band terminal offers mission-adaptable communications. Like all of our Auto-Explorer terminals, it provides fast and reliable simple satellite acquisition and a graphical user interface that simplifies operations. The ability to swap out feed cartridges in the field allows a single Multi-Band terminal to replace three existing single band terminals. This approach provides considerable cost savings to the warfighter and represents a significant addition to Globecomm's product line of portable terminals."
