Globecomm Introduces Globecomm Maritime

Mar 10, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Globecomm Systems Inc., a global provider of communications solutions and services, announced the launch of Globecomm Maritime to provide a suite of maritime communication solutions for the maritime market sectors, commercial, fishing, leisure and government.

According to a release, Globecomm Maritime is the result of the integration of the Company's maritime business units with Globecomm's global managed communications platform and engineering capabilities.

Four well-established Globecomm companies, Telaurus, Mach6, Evosat, and Carrier2Carrier come together under the Globecomm Maritime brand. Each of these four companies has areas of specific expertise, and each adds a vital piece to the communication jigsaw so that whatever the customer's requirements, whether they be Inmarsat, Iridium or VSat based, Globecomm Maritime has the solution in its portfolio, all under-pinned by the unrivalled experience and resources of the Globecomm group.

Malcolm McMaster, VP Globecomm Maritime and President Telaurus, said: "We are delighted to be unveiling the Globecomm Maritime offering to the market at a time when the communications needs of maritime users, whether of a commercial or leisure nature, are becoming ever-more challenging. Our combination of distribution, service provision, added value software and specialist support enables Globecomm Maritime to offer truly comprehensive coverage at whatever level the customer demands. The launch of Globecomm Maritime will be followed by the release of new products which draw on the core competences of these business units." McMaster added: "The maritime communications market is as diverse as any other, requiring many different solutions to meet the needs of seafarers at sea, whether they be operating a fishing vessel in extreme weather and sea conditions of Alaska, or a Crude Oil Tanker carrying its cargo across the world's oceans, or even the leisure sailor who needs to conduct his business while sailing on his own private yacht. Globecomm Maritime is able to look at each specific customers actual (and planned) communication needs, and recommend a solution that is the best for that customer.

Customers will be able to learn more about the Globecomm Maritime offering from its staff who are participating in the CMA Shipping 2011 Conference, Connecticut, March 21-23 and SeaAsia in Singapore, (10-15 April).
