Southern Health and Social Care Trust has selected Zircadian's e-Rota and e-Monitor web-based solutions for creating junior doctor rotas, ensuring compliance and monitoring doctors hours. The Southern Health Trust has just renewed its contract with Zircadian for another year. Using Zircadian's systems the medical staffing team at the Trust monitors over 30 different rotas for its 220 junior doctors. The Trust's objective is for all doctors to be paid band 1 and work less than 48 hours. Malcolm Clegg, Assistant HR Manager of the Medical Staffing Department at Southern Trust commented; "With the introduction of the new EWTD and the existing New Deal contract we recognised the need for junior doctor compliance. We have been delighted that we have achieved such good results." The Junior Doctor Portal enables doctors to submit monitoring data online. The daily monitoring update enables the medical staffing team to capture breaches in the rotas early on. The Trust previously used a paper based system for monitoring. This often resulted in late returns which made it particularly difficult to query a breach which had occurred two or three weeks previously. Using the Zircadian system has also reduced the amount of time spent on ministerial returns, previously managed with a paper based system.
