Nexant Expands Energy Efficiency Services in the U.S. Southeast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. & RALEIGH, NC --(Business Wire)--

Nexant, Inc., a global provider of clean energy solutions and smart grid technology, recently announced that it has opened two new offices in the U.S. Southeast-Jacksonville, Florida and Raleigh (Cary), North Carolina. With the addition of these new locations, Nexant now has 18 U.S.-based offices within its Energy Efficiency business unit, including additional Southeast regional offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee.

Nexant provides comprehensive consulting and technical services in energy conservation, energy efficiency, and demand control, helping businesses and institutions better manage their usage of electrical and thermal energy and supporting utility core demand side management (DSM (News - Alert)) programs. The company's growing presence in the Southeast bolsters relationships with area clients and affiliates and serves the increasing trend toward sustainable energy and energy conservation in the region.

Nexant's Jacksonville Office

Nexant's Jacksonville office was established to develop and support the InvestSmart with JEA commercial and industrial energy efficiency program launched on November 1, 2010 by JEA, which owns, operates, and manages the electric system established by the City of Jacksonville. The JEA electric system currently serves more than 417,000 electric customers in Jacksonville and parts of three adjacent counties.

The goal of the InvestSmart with JEA program is to achieve a minimum of 90,767 MWh of energy savings by 2013; enough energy to supply 6,300 residential customers with electricity for one year. Nexant is also providing program design, implementation, and data management services for two additional JEA InvestSmart programs in 2011-one targeting small businesses and an energy efficiency incentive program for commercial new construction.

"We are delighted to have an office in Florida and excited to be supporting an outstanding client like JEA," said Dan Dent, Nexant's Southeast Region Principal. "We have been working in the region for some time and are committed to continue building a solid presence in the Southeast."

Nexant's Raleigh Office

Nexant's new Raleigh metropolitan office located in Cary, North Carolina supports several regional projects, including Santee Cooper's residential and commercial energy efficiency programs; regulatory support and program design for Columbia Gas of Virginia.

Senior Project Manager Jim Herndon, who heads Nexant's Cary office, highlighted the importance of the company's presence in the region saying, "The Southeast is one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S. and is experiencing an escalating demand for energy. Accordingly, the region's need for comprehensive energy efficiency and energy conservation solutions is growing very rapidly. We look forward to continuing the development and delivery of top-quality, cost-efficient solutions that are critically needed by our clients in this dynamic region."
