AVX Expands Wire-to-Board IDC Technology to Include RG178 Coax Cable Connector

GREENVILLE, S.C. --(Business Wire)--

AVX (News - Alert) Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has expanded its wire-to-board Insulation Displacement Contact (IDC (News - Alert)) product offering to include an RG178 coax cable connector. Designated the 9178 Series, the innovative SMT IDC coax cable connector provides a cost-effective, consistent, ultra-reliable gas-tight cable termination process. The 9178 Series connector's quick and easy cable termination process replaces hand soldering of the cable directly to the PCB.

Tested for 1000 hours at 125 degrees C, the 9178 Series RG178 coax cable connector is targeted to replae more expensive standard coax connectors in frequency applications below 2GHz.

"The 9178 Series connector features a single strip insert and termination process that is the simplest and quickest in the industry," said Tom Anderson, product manager at AVX.

Pricing for the 9178 Series connector starts at $0.75 in large quantity with a lead time of stock to 10 weeks.
