China Unicom, Alibaba Group cooperate in information industryBEIJING, Feb 24, 2011 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) and Alibaba Group signed a strategic agreement Wednesday, aiming to launch comprehensive cooperation in telecom communication, Internet and 3G wireless network value added service sectors. The cooperation will be focus on basic telecommunication, Cloud Computing, e-commerce, cell phone payment, terminal sell and marketing channel collaboration, said China Unicom board chairman Chang Xiaobing. China Unicom will also support all demands of Alibaba for information technology. Industrial insiders hold that improving the 3G wireless network transaction platform and services will advance information service capacity of the e-commerce industry.
