PALO ALTO, CA, Feb 17, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Box.net today announced major updates to its iPad and iPhone apps, designed to bring enterprise-grade security tools and functionality to Box's mobile content management. More than 60,000 businesses and 73% of the Fortune 500 use Box to share, manage and collaborate on content, and Box's updated iOS applications now provide the most secure, feature-rich way for enterprises to enable information sharing on-the-go. Box's iPad and iPhone apps are available immediately for download in the Apple App Store.

"Today's organizations want to empower an increasingly mobile workforce to access and share information from any device, and this is creating tremendous demand for Box's mobile content management," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. "Supporting the explosion of mobile devices -- and specifically, tablets -- is one of the top priorities of every enterprise IT department, and with these iPad and iPhone app updates we're addressing the security needs of the world's largest organizations, while also enabling new and exciting use cases for the mobile worker." Box's iOS applications have already seen major traction with more than 300,000 downloads and mobile-driven sales doubling each quarter.

Demand for content management on the iPad has been particularly strong, with Box's iPad app driving deals with organizations like Sony Music, LaCrosse Footwear, and Dole. Usage of the Box iPad app ranges from TaylorMade's remote sales professionals accessing product data to the ClearChannel TTN executive team reviewing real-time business information from anywhere in the world. The updated Box iPad and iPhone apps offer expanded functionality and security: -- Locking and Auto Logout: Option to apply a four-digit passcode to protect Box content on iPad and iPhone, and set the app to logout automatically when closed -- SSO Login: Connect Box apps to PingFederate and Google Apps enterprise identities for a more seamless and secure user experience on the iPad and iPhone -- Video Out: Project Box content directly from the iPad via a TV, Projector or LCD Monitor -- Air Printing: Wirelessly print Box content to any Air Print enabled printer in a single click from the iPad app "Thanks to Box and the iPad, I leave my laptop at home when I travel and still have instant access to all my business content," said Lance Locher, SVP, ClearChannel TTN. "The Box iPad app has transformed the way our geographically dispersed executive team accesses and shares information on-the-go, and these new updates will make the Box and iPad combo more powerful and secure than ever before." In addition to Box's iOS apps, the company also has a customized app for Android devices, and recently announced support for future Samsung Galaxy Tabs and the HP TouchPad.
