Save the Children Leverages Cornerstone OnDemand's Software

Feb 07, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Cornerstone OnDemand said that global non-profit Save the Children is using Cornerstone's talent management software solution to better engage its employees -- and, in turn, further its mission of achieving advances in how the world treats children.

In a release, the Company said that automating key workforce management processes for learning management, employee performance management and onboarding has helped Save the Children ensure that its people have the right skills and competencies to drive organizational objectives, as well as be more proactive in identifying and developing future leaders.

Recognized for its commitment to accountability and collaboration, Save the Children strives to achieve immediate and lasting change in children's lives through lifesaving interventions in health, education, protection and emergency response. The organization saw an opportunity to empower employees to succeed in their roles by taking a more integrated approach to managing and developing its 5,200 team members, who work in impoverished communities in the U.S. and around the world.

"Using Cornerstone's software is helping us ensure that our most valuable assets, our team members, are ready to work effectively in communities where we help children and families help themselves," said Justin Birtwell, Deputy Director of Global Management Development for Save the Children. "With global emergency situations and needs constantly in flux, it is critical that we have the ability to immediately train new team members on our ethical values and code of conduct." Save the Children, which works closely with the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, recently received additional software licenses that enabled the non-profit to provide critical training to team members stationed in Pakistan. Severe flooding has affected nearly 18 million people in the region, including at least 10 million children who are increasingly vulnerable to malnutrition, life-threatening diseases and plummeting winter temperatures.

"Because we had the capability to quickly train 1,000 local staffers, we have been able to help more than 2.6 million flood affected people in Pakistan, providing much needed emergency medical care, hygiene kits, food and shelter materials," said Birtwell.

"Non-profits are challenged by the ability to retain and develop the right people to achieve their missions, in part because they lack the capacity or resources to make HR a priority," said Charles Coy, Director of Product Marketing for Cornerstone OnDemand. "Save the Children is an excellent example of the positive impact that strategic talent management processes, supported by the right technology solution, can have on these organizations.
