Alcatel OT-980 Android Phone Integrates AuthenTec DRM SolutionFeb 03, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- AuthenTec, a provider of security and identity management solutions, announced that TCL Communication has chosen AuthenTec's DRM Fusion Agent for integration in its new Alcatel OT-980 Android smartphone. AuthenTec said its DRM Fusion Agent for Android helps ensure multimedia content protection and monetization opportunities for TCL Communication's operator customers by ensuring access and playback of protected content by OT-980 smartphone users. The Alcatel OT-980 is an Android 2.1-based smartphone which combines a 2.8-inch touch screen with a QWERTY keypad for enhanced, touch-based functionality. The OT-980 is offered in Europe and Asia and gives users mobile access to a range of services including those available from Google including Gmail, Google Talk, and YouTube. "We selected AuthenTec's DRM solution for our Alcatel OT-980 smartphones because of the maturity of their solution, leading market position, and outstanding technical support which included a commercial-grade DRM server provided for validation during our development," said Dr. Wang Jiyang, Senior VP of TCL Communication.
