Harris awarded USD10.6m contract by US Army for medical treatment facilities


Jan 21, 2011 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Communications and information technology company Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has been awarded a USD10.6m, one-year contract by the US Information Systems Engineering Command.

Under Thursday's contract, Harris will upgrade the communications and IT networks at 23 US Army Medical Treatment facilities. The US Information Systems Engineering Command is responsible for network upgrades to the military health system facilities that utilise the most current technology.



Harris said that it will provide IT wired and wireless network modernisation support, delivering a robust network with the connectivity, reliability, data integrity, and information security medical professionals need to provide high quality care at the 23 treatment sites.

In addition, Harris has also been awarded several network upgrade contracts by the US Air Force and Air National Guard and the US Medical Information Technology Centre.


The Harris team includes subcontractor Federal Resources Corporation (FRC). This contract was awarded under the nine-year, USD20bn Information Technology Enterprise Solutions- 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract vehicle, which is the preferred method of contracting for services and supplies for the Army.
