This new application can be used for quickly ramping up websites and lightweight Web applications. According to Laurence Moroney, Microsoft technology evangelist, With WebMatrix, we are simplifying how you build Web sites on Windows and including everything you need to build, run and deploy your Web site for free. The software package consists of a code and database editor as well as lightweight server software, IIS Developer Express and a lightweight database, SQL Server Compact Edition. The new application also uses ASP (Active Server Pages) Web platform of Using Microsoft. Many Web application and website templates are included in the software package to aid in design. Users can import external ASP or PHP-based templates, including those based on WordPress, Joomla, DotNetNuke or other content management systems. When all the components are incorporated, the software will become a unified design and deployment process. Links to a number of hosting providers are also included in the software. Once a hosting provider is selected, the software can upload the website material to that location automatically.
