Center for Entrepreneurship and Girl Scouts Partner to Host iSMARTgirls Discovery Camp(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DECATUR, Ill., Jan. 6 -- Millikin University issued the following news release: Girls grades 6-9 are invited to participate in the iSMARTgirls Discovery Camp on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Millikin University. The program is sponsored by Millikin's Center for Entrepreneurship and the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois. iSMART stands for Innovation, Science, Math, Art, and Real-world Technology. The Discovery Camp is a half-day program designed for girls interested in these subjects. Activities for the day include three interactive labs - "Mission Robotical," where participants will develop their own android; "Digital Project Runway;" and "GPS: Girl Powered Science," where students will learn the science behind GPS technology. The workshop will also include presentations by successful business professionals. Millikin University women will act as mentors to the girls, and assist them with their work while sharing stories about college life and encouraging the girls in their pursuit of higher education and positive goal achievement. The program is designed to enhance planning, organizational and management skills and foster a spirit of teamwork. All activities are designed to inspire girls to believe in themselves and their abilities, and to utilize their talents to positively impact the world. The cost for the workshop is $55 per person, with a $30 reduction for registered Girl Scouts. The fee includes all activities, giveaways, food, and a camp T-shirt. Two sessions will be offered: Session A, beginning at 8 a.m. in ADM-Scovill Hall, and Session B, beginning at 12 p.m. in the Richards Treat University Center.
