YouTube Corvette speedster idles in jailEDMOND, Dec 22, 2010 (The Edmond Sun - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An Oklahoma City man who posted video of himself driving a Corvette at speeds approaching 200 mph in the Edmond area is idling in the county jail. On Monday, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers arrested Dee Albert "Cody" Replogle, 20, of Oklahoma City, on a complaint of driving his 1999 Chevy Corvette at speeds of more than 190 mph on the Kilpatrick Turnpike, said Capt. Chris West, an OHP spokesman. The suspect was arrested after troopers received an e-mail complaint about a YouTube video of a man driving his super-charged Corvette recklessly and at extremely high speeds in and around the Edmond and Oklahoma City area, West said. After viewing the video, OHP Chief Col. Van Guillotte decided to have the OHP's investigative division see if it could locate the suspect. Guillotte said he was extremely concerned with the suspect's reckless driving and thought the YouTube posts might encourage others to do the same thing in order to garner attention. "Our roadways are absolutely no place for this type of dangerous driving behavior or stunts," Guillotte said. Troopers were able to track the suspect down and obtained statements indicating that he was the owner, driver and personally responsible for the YouTube posts, West said. The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office was equally concerned and aided in obtaining arrest warrants, West said. The suspect was picked up and booked into the county jail on Monday night on two counts of reckless driving, West said. Video of the suspect is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVv_n_D4ggM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEB8y2B4JR8&feature=related. The links were released to the media by the OHP.
