Photobucket Hits Upload MilestoneDec 17, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Photobucket Corp., a dedicated photo and video sharing service, announced that Photobucket users have uploaded over eight billion images since the Photobucket.com launch in 2003. The Company said the continued growth of Photobucket demonstrates the desire consumers have to gather, personalize, share and keep their photos and videos - all in one place - via both computers and mobile devices. According to a release, over four million images are uploaded to Photobucket.com every day and daily uploads originating from Photobucket Mobile applications have increased over 400 percent since January 2010. The escalation of photo and video uploads is being driven, in part, by smartphone adoption and the proliferation of Photobucket's patented auto-uploading technology. In particular, Photobucket has seen tremendous usage growth among users with Android based devices within North America. Photobucket noted that its patented auto-uploading technology provides users with a "zero-click" experience that provides an effortless way to automatically upload and back-up photos and videos from mobile devices. After a picture or video is captured, the Photobucket Mobile application automatically uploads the image to the user's Photobucket account. The image is uploaded as a background operation which enables the user to access other functions on their Smartphone during the auto-uploading process. Once uploaded, users can share their photos and videos automatically to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, websites, blogs, and other online destinations. "Eight billion uploads is a tremendous milestone and we owe that to our loyal users around the world," said Tom Munro, CEO, Photobucket. "Over the past months, we have made significant investments in our mobile applications and we are seeing a corresponding increase in the number of photos uploaded from mobile devices. We expect this trend to continue on a substantial scale as we add additional features that will further enhance the uploading and sharing experience for our users."
