Project magazine, by Virgin Digital Publishing, covers international culture, business and travel. A preview on Apple's App Store, said Project is, "A revolutionary multimedia magazine built specially for your iPad - packed with international culture, entertainment, design, business and travel. And nuclear weapons. Oh, and Jeff Bridges." Media companies see iPad publications as an opportunity for a new type of interactive journalism for which typically affluent tablet PC owners will be willing to pay. A report by the Pew Research Centre last week found that 9% of higher-income households in the US own a tablet PC, compared with 3% in less well-off homes. Gartner predicts tablet sales will reach 19.5 million units in 2010 owing to the popularity of Apple's iPad. Project magazine is compatible with Apple's iPad and requires iOS 4.2.
