OKI Launches Cloud Service "ExaaS(TM)"

TOKYO --(Business Wire)--

OKI Electric Industry (TOKYO:6703) today announced the launch of its ExaaS cloud computing service for the Japanese market. Designed to provide services whenever and in whatever form required by its customers, ExaaS encompasses support for all tasks and issues related to installation, development, procurement, establishment, and operational support for terminals and network components located at customer sites, an area generally excluded by traditional cloud services. In short, ExaaS addresses total IT lifecycle management to optimize customer IT investments.

"In recent years, customers have come to expect cloud services to deliver cost reductions over the overall IT lifecycle. Customers who had previously given up on high-level IT functions and technologies due to poor return on investment generally hold high expectations for cloud services," says Sei Yano, Senior Vice President, responsible for Solutions and Services at OKI (News - Alert). "Nevertheless, some customers have hesitated to transition entirely to cloud services for various reasons, including anxiety related to the transition from existing systems and potential issues in the areas of flexibility, customization, security, and reliability."

To address these concerns, the EXaaS cloud service launched by OKI today offers the following features:

1. Total service provides support for the operation and management of terminals at customer sites.

Providing support for the operation and management of various terminals such as ATMs, exclusive terminals, and PCs at customer sites, as well as application services required by customers, ExaaS achieves overall optimization of total lifecycle management costs.

2. Provides high-level services for individual customers as cost-effective shared-use services.

ExaaS strengthens management capabilities by providing high-level applications-often costly when used by individual customers-as shared-use services.

3. Provides safety and security compliant with various industrial security standards and guidelines.

ExaaS provides safe and secure services meeting standards established by various industrial regulations. The service accommodates internal and external audits backed by OKI's established service security foundations.

4. Supports customers in their integration of or transition from current systems.

OKI provides the necessary tools and transition integration services to support customers as they migrate from existing data and data systems.

Moving forward, OKI plans to leverage its proven track record and experience in providing services such as LCM,*1 through its 250 service and maintenance sites and 2,500 staff located across Japan. OKI will continue to provide its customers with services that provide cost-effective access to high-level functions, thereby providing the cloud services required by customers.
