Communications Resellers buck UK market trend to record strong growth

(EMBIN (Emerging Markets Business Information News) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Leading Communications Resellers have generally enjoyed a good year in the UK and have managed to rise above the recessionary pressures that have impacted this and other sectors over the last two years. Latest figures indicate that the top 250 UK Communications Resellers, who between them employed 46,974 staff, increased revenues by 7.23% in the last year to £8.41 billion. These are amongst the findings from the “UK Comms Channel – the Top 250†, the latest database report from IT Europa which is published today.

This strong growth in business revenues was achieved against a general background of declining operator-reported retail telecoms revenues, which according to Ofcom fell 2.6% to £30.4 billion in 2009, driven by the economic downturn and declining voice revenues. Amongst the factors enabling this sector to buck the overall market trend was continued growth in VoIP services and increasing data volumes, particularly over mobile networks (according to Ofcom, up 240% in 2009) fuelled by the continuing rise in Smartphone ownership – up 81% over the previous year.

“Generally, it seems that UK Communications Resellers have done very well over the last few years,†says IT Europa analyst Auri Aittokallio. “Comparing the revenues of the top 150 Communications Resellers in 2010 with those in 2007 shows a growth in the market of 52%.†The UK Comms Channel – the Top 250 listing for 2010 is headed by Computacenter, followed by Logicalis, Kcom, Telent and Phoenix. In terms of vendor coverage amongst the top 250, Cisco leads with 98 companies citing them as a key relationship followed by Avaya (82 companies) and BT (72 companies).

The UK Comms Channel – the Top 250 database report provides detailed profiles of each of the UK’s leading Communications Resellers which include information on revenues, which markets a company operates in, vendor relationships, staff numbers and development plans, along with contact details for the top executives of each company. The report is available from IT Europa (www.iteuropa.com) at a cost of £1,750.
